On the 17th November, and for the first time in Quebec, a tasting of those most peculiar wines was held in Montreal.
Crisp and lively delicious whites some with hints of minerality and passion fruits such as this Abona from the Frontos Estate a blend of Verdelho and 2 native grapes: Marmajuelo and Albillo and a dessert wine Bermejo malvasia, from Bodegas Los Bermejos made with 100% Malvasia Volcanica (!) and aged in a solera, everything is special in the Canaries. Landscapes are from another planet (see pictures).
Their unique ungrafted varietals are from prephylloxeric times. The volcanic nature of the soil preventing the vineyards from the XIXth century scourge.
For those craving originality, this is unbeatable.
